I bought this on sale at Office Depot (Warning: Office Depot will NOT refund your money if you open the package, only an exchange) to see if it was better than my Garmin nuvi 205w, which is really slow when it has to re-adjust to the next step. You can pass the turn or start off going in the wrong direction.
The Nextar seems a little faster, but my model does not show the posted speed limit like the Garmin. A big plus when you drive for a living like I do. It shows you the speed limit if you go OVER it, but not before. Stupid, huh? I tried to return it mostly because of that, but as I said, sweet surprise...
The points of interest have less of the same locations than the Garmin. Also, I put in a place I take people to daily, and it told me this location was unreachable!
The mp3 player will not play WMA files, only mp3s. You cannot make the trip screen bigger/closer while in route, so in that respect, it's harder to see then the Garmin.
The Nextar doesn't seem to work badly, but I did try to return it the very next day.
It seems fine for 'layman' use. The Garmin isn't perfect, but it's easier to use than the Nextar. -- Not Terrible, Not Great, Not For Professional Use
