User Reviews about Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth
Certainly the most cost effective Double-Din GPS/Bluetooth/Stereo available. Easy installation in a '96 Corvette. Outstanding improvement over the factory radio sound quality, literally blown away by it ability to drive the factory speakers. Wide control over acoustics, what suits my music and (old) ears many not suit yours. Very flexible. The instructions are good, but the unit is complicated. The fit and finish is excellent. The controls are logical; but at times a bit strange. The overall feel is English, not Japanese/Chinese. The GPS is very good; but not perfect. Very usable overall. The Bluetooth phone interface is one of the best I have seen/heard for after market units. Very good sound quality in both directions. Minimum echo. It is necessary to upgrade to the current firmware. This is a very simple operation, and perhaps already accomplished on currently shipping units. POI list is short, but not a significant priority for me. An expanded POI list is avalable for 100 bucks or so, but that negates some of the cost advantage of the unit. Highly recommended for a cost effective upgrade. It does exactly what it is designed to do very gracefully. An easy unit to recommend. (Get the proper install kits). -- AVIC-U310BT - Better than you might first expect
OMG- You have to buy this radio. I was skeptical but being a person who already had a portable gps, I wanted something combined with a radio where I did not have to take the time to put it on the widow each and every time. I also knew that pioneer, in geneeral, makes great radios but furthermore, I wanted a radio that if I was in a not so great area, would be detachable for safety concerns. THIS RADIO solves ALL THESE desires. And then after installing it today, I can not express the benefit enough of having the handfree bluetooth for my cell phone through the radio. Although I normally use the ear head set, this is so much easier! this is a great purchase and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I compared for days, searching the features and prices, and this is definitely the ONE TO BUY. dont forget to order the cord for your ipod. if it does not fit your car, dont worry, it didnt fit mine, but I called to find out the installation kit for my car and I AM SO GLAD I DID. I am so glad i did not settle on another radio because of the initial fit, i simply (for my car) ordered the proper installation kit, about 23 dollars and the company was able to install it without a problem. A MUST HAVE! -- You have to buy this!
When I purchased my 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander 3 years ago it had an after market Pioneer GPS/CD/AM-FM installed. Recently the onscreen funtions started to take on a mind of their own, so last night I went shopping locally to get an idea of what I wanted to replace it with. It turns out my local Best Buy had the Pioneer AVIC U310BT on clearance for $179. I thought to be a steal...so I have the $50 install scheduled for this afternoon. I will share more on updates as needed. -- Just Bought this, and can't wait to try it. $179 + install
Got this radio for a gift to my son. He loves it and claims that this is one of the best gifts he's ever received. It was exactly what he expected and was easy to install. Very pleased with this. -- love this!
Just received and installed my new unit a few days ago, and first things first, it was an absolute breeze to install. I have installed a few car audio systems in my day, and this was the easiest. I have a 2005 Ford Focus, and with the Metra 95-5812 Double DIN Installation Kit for Select 2004-2006 Ford Vehicles (Black), It looks like it came from the factory.
Second, INSTALL THE FIRMWARE UPDATE!!!! When I first tested the bluetooth with my iPhone, I couldn't hear the other party, nor could they hear me, even when I had the microphone close to my mouth. After the update, the bluetooth pairing with my phone was flawless. It has yet to come un-paired and I have not had a single problem with call quality. Navigation has been great also, it seems to be pretty fast and accurate with the position of my vehicle. It also (once you punch in a couple numbers) will give you miles per gallon, and when you plan out a trip, it will estimate the cost of gas you will use on the trip.
My only complaint is, in my opinion, the only flaw with this device. The preloaded Points of Interest are few and far between...seriously Pioneer? You couldn't just load em on there? No, they make you purchase a $120 sd card in order to have access to the 12million points of interest they have come up with. Sure there are third party sites to get em from, but I find it to be an incredible pain to have to go through and find every single store, restaurant chain, etc. and add them individually. The AVIC to iPhone link is also a pain, they dont tell you in the description that its not just "transfer the destination", you have to add it to a list on your iPhone, and you then have to re-sync it with the deck. This includes contacts, phone numbers, all of it.
It has a ton of fun features including picking the color of the light of your buttons, and it hooks right into my headlight control, so when I turn my headlights on, it automatically dims the display. Music from my iPhone plays easily through the usb connection, and I LOVE the control it has given me over my sound system setup. I have two ten inch subs running off of a Kenwood KAC-9104D 500W mono amp. On my previous deck, when I turned the bass settings all the way down they were still much too loud(even with the amp turned way down). Not only do they sound perfect now, this deck gives me the ability to control the crossover frequency at which the sound is "split up" and sent back to the subs. My previous deck didn't even come close to touching the level of customization and ability to fine tune the sound as this one does.
So all in all, for the money, this is an OUTSTANDING unit to purchase. There simply is no comparable product for the price. It gets 4 stars simply because the POI thing really irritates me...
