This is a very well-built mounting system. The only problem I find is that there is too much air trapped within the suction cup.

When parked in full sunlight, this allows the trapped air to heat and expand, thus breaking the suction and causing the entire mounted unit to fall to the vehicle floor ... not a good thing.

I don't find any way to adjust the "throw" on the suction unit, so I'll contact the manufacturer to see if the particular RAM unit I purchased is defective. -- good mount, poor suction cup design
Very well constructed, all parts are included, but you need to have some mechanical inclination to put it together as there are no hints or help. What bugs is removing the GPSr from the mount is difficult, requires two hands and somewhere along the line, one gets the feeling that the plastic is gonna snap. I use and remove GPSr frequently for geocaching purposes, so it's especially irritating. I feel better about the sturdiness as I go off-roading frequently and this mount will keep my GPSr in the Jeep and not flying around or out the window. -- I like it, but...
The RAM suction mount is great! The suction on it is pretty powerful - it attaches to a window and holds on very tightly. The ball joints make it really easy to adjust your GPS unit to basically any position you choose. This product is awesome. -- RAM Suction Mount - Great Product
This thing is bomber. Very well-made. Solid. Functional. The window suction pad really does hold incredibly well (it is big and has a lever that locks it into place - it does not use those wimpy little clear suction cups!).

The ultimate test will be in a month when I take it on an expedition in Africa. If it turns out that the suction pad does not hold over days of heat and bumps, I will just screw the base right into the dashboard. -- Very impressive - well built
