User Reviews about Samsung 12.2 Mp 5X Opt Zoom 3.5IN Ts LCD with Gps Bt Red

I purchased this camera in March 2010 because I spend a lot of time in the remote areas of Utah hiking and camping. I thought the geotagging feature would be great with my iPhoto and Garmin software. The GPS function does work well with iPhoto and Google Earth, but is slow to lock on to satellites. I have a Garmin GPS handheld unit and I am familiar with all of the issues that cause these types of problems. I also did not expect the camera to perform as well as my handheld GPS unit when locking a position, but I expected higher performance than I am getting. While the Garmin unit can usually lock in a location in 30-60 seconds, the Samsung can take 5 minutes or more to find its position. Not only does this use a lot of battery power, it makes it difficult to capture wildlife and scenery shots spontaneously. The camera will still take pictures while it is searching for a position, it just won't geotag the photos. I understand that tree cover reduces the efficiency of all GPS units, but the camera will not fix a position with even light tree cover. A word of warning, the GPS can freeze and cause the camera to freeze as well, requiring the user to pull the battery and restart to get the lens shutter to close and power down the camera normally. I had this problem while on a five-day river rafting trip and did not have access to the owner's manual, essentially rendering the camera useless for the trip. I was unaware that the GPS has a reset function available on the menu. After some research at home, I reset the GPS, and the problem seems to be solved. The bluetooth does not seem to want to pair up with my iMac, although this is not a feature I expected to use much anyway. Haven't had a chance to try out the wi-fi yet. Overall image quality is good, on par with other 12MP point-and-shoots. The touch screen is great, easy to use. In general, I like the camera and the features, but I might wait for a second generation model that improves the efficiency of the GPS, bluetooth, etc. if I were purchasing now. -- Nice features......a few quirks

I've owned the cl65 for a few months now and i have to say that it hasn't lived up to it's hype. Geo tagging via built in GPS, video recording capabilities, wifi, uploading to several social networks etc. The wifi can be extremely slow and might test your patience. GPS will be very suspect indoors and even in the open it will take close to a minute or two to get a signal. Uplaoding to facebook picasa and other websites downgrade image quality to 2mp. The image quality is good but not great, often images are blurry even with the correct settings and light. The macro setting is by far the best feature, very good detail!. I would wait for the next generation or even the model after that to purchase a camera with uploading capabilities. The technology is just not there yet. -- More sizzle than steak!
